Artist's Comments

Last year when I just received my Fuji GX617 this was the greeting on my first morning out with it.

A nice introduction to it's new life with me.

The structure in the photo is the Surf Lifesaving Lookout hut that resides on the beach. Would be so hot in there in summer.

** For some reason uploading the DA has killed the amazing red in this shot **

Thanks. I love how with film you can blow the reds in shots. Where I find with digital it is my biggest headache.

Excellent.. thanks for letting me know. I hate when you upload shots and they get killed by the websites image scripts.

Iv found that dA kills alot of colours when you upload :shakefist:

It is a big problem with images on the internet - the files might be perfect, and the print could be great, but you never know what your viewers are using or if their screens are calibrated. So what you upload and what they see can be very very different... But it gives you a chance to reach a wider audience, and the quality always surfaces. So even viewing this on a crappy uncalibrated laptop monitor, I know it is a great photo :D

This is gorgeous, a wonderfully composed shot.

The reds look fine on my monitor too, it might be a browser problem. IE isn't colour managed, so doesn't respect the colour data in the photo. FF3 does have colour management, but it's turned off by default and Safari (which I use) has it turned on all the time.

Still, it's a lovely piece Matt...nice work
