I was looking through a few old slides and scanned this one in. It needed a bit of polishing in Photoshop to bring out the red and blue in the shot.

It is taken on the Central Coast at Terrigal.

What resolution do you use when you scan your slides? I had some slides and negatives scanned at a shop at 600dpi and they look terrible. They are so grainy and this was never visible in the original photos. I'm trying to decide if the shop did a bad job or if slides and negatives just don't scan well.

Even with my boyfriend doing some adjustments to them in photoshop...they aren't as good as I was expecting. Do you have any tricks or techniques or???

I generally scan my work at 400dpi on an Imacon 343 scanner. Your grainy scans could be the type of film you shot or just bad scans.

Where possible go to a place that does drum scanning with an Imacon. They are the best machines on the market.

The only issues I have with scanning different types of slide and neg film is colour casts in them. Hope this helps.

Great shot. I like the drama and the purplish palette throughout. :)
