Artist's Comments

On my return to Melbourne from a trip to the Grampians in Victoria I spotted this building in this field of canola. It was a beautiful contrast between it and the sky.

What surprised me with the shot when I got the film processed was the effect the polariser had on the sky.

Fuji G617 | Velvia 50

Oooh, this is really pretty :D
How long was the exposure in this shot? The movement of the flowers is very noticeable, but it doesn't take away anything from it. It might even be a very interesting long exposure with a strong ND filter? I heard that color film doesn't take that very well, have you tried it?

Thanks... the exposure was about 1/4 of a sec. With my panoramic camera I loose a stop for my centre filter and two stops for my polariser and then I shoot with 50iso film that I shoot at 32iso so it does slow your exposure speed down quite a bit.

I have a 10 stop ND filter and I use slide film with as well and it does move towards a red cast. I have uploaded a shot taken with the 10 stop ND called Stockton Beach.

I will look it up! I've done many long exposures with a digital camera, but never with film. I just loaded my TLR with some b/w iso25 film, bought an adapter so I can put on the 9 stop ND filter I use, and now I only need to find the time to shoot it :D
Btw. how come you shoot velvia 50 at ISO 32? You compensate for the filters or..?

I rate the Velvia 50 to 32 iso for a bit more contrast. I got that tip years a go seams to work well for me ;)
